Just One: Sathya Sai Maa Moksha Dham

The preparatory construction work at the Sathya Sai Maa Moksha Dham has already commenced. When we arrive today there are builders, carpenters and other tradesmen all around the area where the children's food distribution program is usually held and the team realises quickly that this has to be the last program here until construction of the Ashram completes.

There is sadness regarding the conclusion of this program as seving the children living around the Ashram has created special bonds , but there is also excitement at the completion of the Ashram and all the opportunities this will bring.

Today, 16th February, Yoshiko, a guest from the Sai Maa European community has joined the program and is offering an orange to each of the children in addition to the regular food being served by Just One.  The menu today consists of a vegetable stew with eggplant, potato and peas, along with hot puri (small hot fried breads)  and a thick well spiced khir- rice pudding.

Today there are less children than usual.  Many of the children are still at school as the schools have not moved back to their summer scheduling when school finishes early to avoid the midday heat. The hot weather has been slow in arriving this year, and so the schools have maintained the later winter starting times, meaning the older children have not returned home in time to participate in our program.

However there are still many boisterous young children who arrive at the Ashram wishing to be played with and excitedly waiting for the food to be ready. In all we serve approximately 80-90 children before opening the program to adults as well. In total about 50 adults are also served, until the blessed food is completed. It is tradition in India that food is never wasted. So once the children's hunger is fully satisfied, the remaining food is offered to those adults who come and sit in the Shakti of the Sathya Sai Maa Moksha Dham, receiving the blessings of Sai Maa both through being in the Ashram and through the food offered  through the Sai Mai Vishnu Shakti Trust Just One program.
