While the drills are performed by the children, our kitchen staff have been busy preparing the meals to satisfy the appetites growing by the minute. By the time the oldest students are finishing their class, the food is almost ready to be served.
The meals are served classroom by classroom, starting with the youngest children. It doesn't finish in each classroom until everybody there has enough. These children are always hungry, and many have seconds, thirds and even more of puri and vegetable. There is only one serving of kheer, but the students receive as much vegetable curry and puri as they need to fill their stomachs.
As they are being served many of the children now say "Thank you Sir", and when the whole classroom is complete all the children often repeat this in chorus. It is delightful to listen to the magic in their voices when this happens. The faces of these children are filled with the wonder and innocence of childhood as they smile and look at me. There's such a sharing of love in that connection that is growing as we continue to serve these children regularly. The grace of Maa manifested.
